When you ask what a human existence is worth when all that happens is taking and there is no giving, most would agree that such an existence has little worth.   Being a person of value is the third cornerstone of the best life, which happens when you add value to your surroundings, including the lives of others.

How can you respect your self when you are worth less.  And nothing makes you and those around you worth less, then when you are corrupt.

If self respect is your coremotivation, and truth keeps you free, then being of value is what counts most in your life.  Value reflects back to both self respect and truth.  In that way it is critical that our cultures expect all three as part of a generally accepted honor code.
